Dr Leanne Brown is a nephrology nurse practitioner for the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service, Adjunct Associate Professor for James Cook University and Griffith University and sessional Academic for QUT and Griffith University. Leanne has extensive experience in nephrology nursing and has been a nurse practitioner for nearly 20 years. She has also previously co jointly established Cape York Kidney Care (Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service) undertaking chronic disease management with focus on CKD and is still working with the team on a casual basis. She completed a PhD with focus on shared decision making for the older person with advanced kidney disease. She has and continues to mentor Nurse Practitioners from a variety of specialties. She is a representative on the Primary Care Education Advisory Committee for Kidney Health Australia (PEAK- KHA) who are involved in writing the CKD management handbook for primary care and providing education to Primary Health Care health professionals. Member of ANZDATA – Haemodialysis working group and CARI Guidelines Committee.
