Karyn Marshall

I have been CKD Coordinator for almost 9 years since returning to NZ. It is a mixed role as it includes the pre dialysis education and vascular access with all that entails. I love my job. I have been in renal for many years starting in Wellington Hospital in Ward 40 then in HD. I then went to Australia for a few years. I did different places in HD with very different perspectives, from Alice Springs to Launceston.  I was Clinical Nurse Manager in the Port Hedland Dialysis unit for several years. From there I went to Saudi Arabia for 7 years working in both HD and in a vascular access role. From there I went to the UK to the NHS for a short time before doing a different job completely before returning to NZ. I have always found working with renal patients to be a privilege as it is a special position to be in getting to know your patient so well and usually their family too. A unique role for sure.
