Shaiju Thaikandy

Shaiju Thaikandy is the Renal Service Manager and Team Lead for Diabetes and Endocrinology at Health New Zealand, Hawke’s Bay. With over 25 years of experience as a renal physiologist across India, Singapore, and New Zealand, he brings extensive expertise in dialysis, clinical governance, and service leadership.

Shaiju currently serves as Chair of the New Zealand and Australia Society of Renal Dialysis Practice (NZASRDP), is a board member of the Clinical Physiology Registration Board (CPRB) of New Zealand, and chairs the Models of Care working group for the National Renal Network. He has also contributed to the RSA Workforce Taskforce, particularly in the development of the dialysis acuity tool, and has presented at multiple RSA conferences.

His key areas of passion are developing sustainable models of care, strengthening the renal workforce, and advancing health equity across health.
