Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Kidney Healthcare Worker I Nephrology I Division of Medicine - Princess Alexandra Hospital | Metro South Health
Professional Bio
My name is Brett Mooney
I am a Torres Strait Islander, South Sea Islander.
I currently work as the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Kidney Health Worker at the Princess Alexander hospital Brisbane. My role is unique in the way that it’s the first of its kind in Queensland and has a Statewide portfolio supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients accessing kidney transplantation as a treatment option.
The role has a dual purpose providing cultural appropriate leadership and facilitation across all levels of the Kidney transplant dept with staff when engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait patients and supporting patients with chronic kidney disease. The Kidney Health Worker role also provides cultural appropriate patient empowerment and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients accessing treatment for chronic kidney disease.
