Professional Bio
Sarah is currently the Associate Nurse Unit Manger of a small regional satellite unit in Berri, South Australia. Sarah has worked in this role for the past 15 months and has experience in Renal Nursing for the past 11 years. Prior to this, Sarah worked in a range of areas at Riverland General Hospital including Acute, Medical and Surgical wards, Theatre, Emergency Department and Infection Control. Sarah also holds an Immunisation Provider Certification and has worked in Infection Control, building skills in surveillance and auditing. Sarah previously, 18 years ago, worked in a large metropolitan hospital and has had several years experience at the beginning of her nursing working in Aged Care. Prior to becoming a Registered Nurse, Sarah worked for 13 years at British Aerospace as an Electronic Technician, an Electrical Inspector and as a Manufacturing Department Team Supervisor. Projects included building FA/18 aircraft, Collins submarine Periscopes and Black Hawk Helicopters. These roles assisted Sarah to develop a strong passion for quality improvement and has translated many of the initiatives from the defence industry into the planning and structure of the dialysis unit in order to provide quality, patient centred care. Sarah enjoys participating in research studies, and is also a published author in Nursing Research in the Journal of Older People Nursing. She is always working on case studies, and has a number of successful stories she is always willing to share with others working in the highly skilled specialty area of Renal Nursing.
