Clinical Nurse Renal unit

Professional Bio

I commenced  a long and rewarding nursing carer in the mid 80's as a hospital trained Registered Nurse at the old Royal Adelaide Hospital. I have worked in many areas of nursing including but not limited to: general medicine, accident and emergency, cardiac/coronary care and high dependency units, hospital coordinator after hours, as well as numerous stints as NUM.
I have completed a post graduate certificate in renal nursing through University of Tasmania, as well a education modules in Renal through the Royal Adelaide Hospital. I was luckily asked to part of the selected few to make up the inaugural team of haemodialysis staff, for the new Gawler Health Service Renal unit in 2016. I had never seen a haemodialysis machine, nor fistula prior to this time!
What a mind boggling experience/ ride for me, and such a huge learning curve. I find haemodialysis nursing to be a truly rewarding experience.
