My name is Nathan GARRAWURRA I come remote community of Galiwinku commonly known as Elcho Island 300km north east of Darwin and I was born in Nhulunbuy township. I am strong Yolngu man with a connection to Liygomirr clan in the area and I speak dhambarrpuyngu liygomirr language and Yolngu matha.
I have been working as an aboriginal health worker for almost a 6 years and I started my career working alongside nurses and doctors as an AHP trainee in the local clinic and now have move up to become renal program coordinator working in our Darwin city office.
I love my work and I am motivated to help and empower my people and my community to bring about change in regards to high numbers kidney diagnosis in my region alone through education awareness and story about kidney in our own languages so people can take charge of their own health and wellbeing.
