Leanne Piening
Vascular Access Nurse - kimberley renal services
Professional Bio
Leanne Piening is a registered nurse with a career spanning over two decades. After completing her Bachelor of Nursing in 1999, she began her career as a perioperative nurse, working in regional and remote clinical settings from 1999 to 2020.
In 2020, Leanne transitioned into renal nursing, where she discovered her passion for supporting individuals with kidney disease. Motivated to deepen her knowledge, she pursued and completed a Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Renal Nursing) in 2024.
Currently, Leanne is employed as the Vascular Access Coordinator at Kimberley Renal Services, located in remote Western Australia. In this role, she co-ordinates Vascular Access Clinics in the Kimberley, supported by a visiting Vascular Surgeon and Nephrology Nurse Practitioner from Royal Perth Hospital. She plays a pivotal role in ensuring timely surgical access interventions for Kimberly renal patients and providing education to both patients and healthcare teams.
When she is not caring for patients, Leanne enjoys making the most of living in the Kimberley by camping, fishing and exploring the vast coastline.
