Nurse Practitioner - Whanganui Hospital

Professional Bio
Albert Robertson is recognized as the first Indian nurse practitioner in New Zealand and currently serves as the lead of the renal team at Whanganui Hospital. He brings over a decade of clinical expertise as a nephrology nurse practitioner, having worked comprehensively across all facets of the specialty.

Albert is particularly passionate about the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is actively engaged in both primary and secondary healthcare settings through the implementation of the “Early Intervention Model of Care.” His professional focus is centered on advancing equitable health outcomes, with a strong commitment to supporting Māori, Pacific peoples, older adults, and individuals facing socio-economic hardship within the rural Whanganui district.

In addition to his clinical work, Albert is dedicated to professional development within the nursing field. He takes great interest in knowledge dissemination and serves as a mentor to his peers and to nurse practitioner trainees.  Albert supports the growth and development of nurse practitioners in New Zealand by chairing nurse practitioner panel interviews for the Nursing Council of New Zealand, further strengthening professional standards and mentorship within the field.
